"According to the majority of energy experts and researchers, hydrogen is currently impractical as an alternative to fossil-based liquid fuels." - Wikipedia
The discussion then details several spurious reasons for this didactic and false conclusion.
This is just another instance that demonstrates how truth cannot be democratized. Truth is not a matter of what the majority of people think something is. Truth is what IS. If most people thought baseball was invented in Japan it would still be true that it was invented in upstate New York So Wikipedia starts with a flawed initial premise and often veers to the South (logic wise) from there as they do in their discussion of Hydrogen gas for automobile engine fuel. There is a great Stephen Colbert piece on this irrationality of the Wikipedia approach to truth which you can view HERE
So, why is Wikipedia wrong on this? They failed to account for the fact that there are 1000s of vehicles on the road right now that are using hydrogen on demand in combination with gasoline to optimize their fuel economy by as much as twentyfive to fifty percent or more!
An obvious alternative that would go a long way towards solving any shortage of fossil fuel would be for the automotive manufacturing corporations and oil corporations to unhack the car computers so as to enable better MPG!
Automobiles are equipped for more than 15 years with computers. These computers are factually pre-hacked against getting the gas mileage that they would otherwise be capable of! If the auto manufacturing and petroleum corporations desired people to get a bigger bang for their buck at the service station they could unhack their computers!! This is a majorly illegal action in violation of contracts that these companies have with the EPA and other regulatory agencies with regards to ethical business practices.
And this is the most important one. The technology to run cars with engines that use WATER for fuel has been around for 90 years! Recently it has become available to the average citizen via Water4Gas and their open source community in the area which has empowered many others to contribute to advancements. So Chevron is raking in billions per year in profit, they let go of a few hundred million to "research" alternative energy sources, meanwhile, they persist in collusion with automobile manufacturers to put artificial limits on MPG and they ignore the fact that Brown's Gas, Hydrogen from Water, Hydrogen On Demand and so forth are presently in use in the car engines of 1000s of drivers today AND they create the appearance that they are attempting to improve technology as a smoke screen and a diversion so that people don't know that the technology already exists!!!
If you are unindoctrinated, WATER4GAS is providing information for a fee which consumers can use in their garage or wherever to put together a small device which infuses hydrogen into the gas/air mixture that their car or truck runs on.
What this does is make bite sized particles out of the ones that the engine burns as fuel. So the system is able to use a lot more of it.
With WATER4GAS you can reasonably expect to reduce your gasoline consumption by 12%. In reality though many are obtaining 30-50% improvement or even more. Those goblets must have been pretty "blankin'" huge in some systems before. But with W4G they are made consumable so you can reduce your gasoline consumption.
It also helps make emissions significantly cleaner.
